my little bean tree

Last night, while shopping at our local Nijiya store, we found these fantastic Edamame vines. I'm excited to steam them up for a little treat but honestly, I think I fancy the fact that they are on the vine and look like a tree more than I look forward to eating the actual product.

Wow! Living in San Diego is full of wonderful and amazing opportunities to acquire unusual and tasty food items. Will this plant continue to produce bean pods?

It actually won't grow. It was just a few chopped off vines from the main bean vine. Edamame (young soybean in Japanese) actually means twig bean because the vines are so twiggy. Cute!
