Burn's Night Celebration

Last night was Burns Night, an evening to celebrate by consuming large quantities of Scotch along with a dinner of Haggis and Tatties and Neeps. We invited a few friends over to drink with us, read Robert Burns' poetry and toast to his memory. It was a lot of fun. Admittedly, we didn't manage to drink the entire bottle of scotch(which we'd expected to do), but we did get a pretty good handle on it, considering that the bottle was untouched before the start of our Burns Supper.

After traveling to Scotland and eating several versions of Haggis, Matthew and I developed a real appreciation for this hearty dish. We had hoped to find a really good Haggis to share with our friends; alas, we only found a mediocre one which adequately served it's symbolic purpose. Actually, we ate most of the Haggis and I'll eat the rest of it with the left over Tatties and Neeps for lunch tomorrow. Yum!

All in all, Burns Night was great fun!

A little fresh snow

As Matthew and I were preparing to drive to Sacramento, this is what we looked out of the window and saw, beautiful, new snow. I couldn't help but snap a few photos before we took off down the freeway in this lovely little blizzard.
